Overview

Meal Machines Cafe & Play Centre in Rosny Park, Tasmania, strikes a unique balance between a vibrant family playground and a thoughtfully curated café. Situated on Bligh Street, this compact yet efficient venue offers a welcoming space for parents and children alike.

The café’s menu stands out for its focus on health-conscious and allergen-friendly options, catering especially well to gluten-free and dairy-free diets. Signature dishes like the Mexican Pulled Beef Bowl and the Mushroom Benedict reflect a creative approach to casual dining, combining bold flavors with wholesome ingredients. Kids have their own nutritious selection with bowls named Roasted Nourish, Rainbow Buddha, and Chicken Zoodle, matching the café’s commitment to nourishing young ones. Be mindful that some unique preparations, like the use of coconut cream in smoothies, may not appeal to all palates but showcase the café’s dedication to thoughtful dietary choices.

Coffee lovers can find a range of classics and specialty hot drinks that pair perfectly with the menu. From cappuccinos to chai lattes and vegan hot chocolate, the beverage lineup complements the fresh, vibrant food. The drinks are well-priced, adding to the overall approachable vibe of the spot.

The play centre is designed with children in mind, featuring a sizeable ball pit, toy kitchen, book corner, and a bouncy castle housed in a separate room. While the interior could benefit from brighter colors to match the joyful spirit expected in family spaces, the environment remains safe and clean. Some visitors have noted signs of wear in the equipment, such as fewer balls in the pit and missing play kitchen doors, which, once addressed, could enhance the play experience further.

Targeted clearly at families and caregivers, Meal Machines delivers more than a simple playground stop. It supports communal moments—whether it’s a lively birthday party in a private room or a calm coffee break during a rainy day. The staff’s friendly and attentive service helps make events seamless and stress-free, with parents appreciating the blend of good food, child-safe fun, and reasonable pricing. Free parking nearby and 3-hour play admissions for various age groups add convenience for busy families.

Decent play centre cafe, pretty compact though. Food is mainly gluten free so be careful with your choices if you're used to standard meals - I ordered a strawberry milkshake and it tasted quite yucky to me because it had coconut cream, but was honestly my bad for not looking closely at the menu details, and there's a reason the kids didn't finish eating the brownie bites. Chicken and chips were decent. It looked pretty gloomy inside with grey walls and only blue and white play equipment everywhere. As my toddler said "I liked the other one better because that one has colourful balls, and this one only has blue" lol. There's a separate room with a bouncy castle thing and nothing else so I don't see why anyone would sit in the tables in that room as you'd want to have visibility of the main play area. Staff also assumed we hadn't paid for the kids when we were ordering food and almost charged us again, luckily we explained once we caught on to their vague question of "any kids in the play area? And how old are they?". Overall place looks safe for kids, good amount of table and seats around with some room to move, so good use of compact space. Clean toilets. Reasonable pricing. Free 3h parking outside. Current admission prices to play area (as of Dec 2024): 1-3 years $5.50 ( Under 1 Free ) 4+ years $7.50

Original review posted 3 months ago. Things are still the same after visiting today. We have been coming here regularly for a long time to play and have always loved it. However today I noticed a lot of broken balls and even the doors of the play kitchen have been taken off. The ball pit also used to be full of balls and now you can see the black floor underneath. It’s no longer like it was. Not sure what is going on but I hope it can be improved soon so we can enjoy coming here again.

Just held my daughter's 8th birthday party here. I cannot thank Ellie, Chris & the staff enough for making it such a wonderful day. We had 20 kids attend with multiple parents, and the food provided was not only delicious but filled everyone up. The best part is that both adults and kids loved the platters, and it cost way less than if I self catered! Combined with the entry to the play centre, cutlery and plates provided fantastic service throughout the entire process and our own private room. This has been a fantastic birthday experience

Nice little cafe next to an indoor playground area. There is an entry free for the play area but not for the cafe itself. Was not noisy with kids when we went but looks like a great family friendly destination especially for a rainy day. Lots of healthy, allergen friendly, gluten free meal options. Food we ordered was good, meat a little dry. Coffee was well priced and good. They also offer healthy pre packed meal boxes

This is a great place for all ages! Amazing menu for a play centre, much more a restaurant than 'just a play centre', the meals weve had are all great. The smoothies alone are a meal in themselves with coconut cream and such a great range of options and can get take away too. Perfect place for a meal before or after a movie for people without kids too. Great staff with helpful and friendly energy, clean and sunny seats at the front windows. Kids have a huge play area with ball pit, book corner, toy kitchen and even a bouncy castle! The disco we went to was great fun We found allergy awareness for my sister was spot on too with so many gluten free and dairy free options, a great range of alternative milks and even vegan hot choc! Highly recommended a visit here!

Our first visit with a grandchild and what an amazing experience it was. World class facility with a huge safe play area for children. Super clean and indoors. Comprehensive well priced menu. Better coffees would be difficult to find. Covid safe. Ideal for toddlers up to 6. Toilets clean and plenty to choose from. Wheelchair accessible. Plenty parking. Worthwhile a visit. All staff members extremely friendly and helpful!
